ABOUT US

Founded in 1949, the Arkansas State Square Dancing Federation (ASSDF) is the primary organization for all square and round dancers in Arkansas! This community is built around exercise, friendship, and wellness of all ages and skill levels. The late Lee Kopman, (former national caller), noted that "there is no competition". Another way to look at it, is the higher level you dance, the more moves to learn (and mess up on!!). And, no matter how long one has been dancing or calling, you're going to mess up sooner or later...you just smile, and laugh it off.

Become a dancer today!

For a look back at the history of past presidents of the ASSDF...poems that I wrote on the ASSDF when it turned 40 in 1989, and on 2 callers from long ago...and past National Square Dance Convention cities, click here. For a look back, "In Memoriam" for those dancers and clubs that are gone, but not forgotten (last updated on May 20, 2023), click here. For a list of Club Facebook pages, and websites for organizations, clubs, callers, and cuers (updated May 12, 2022), click here.
